Ways Teach Your Kids Not to Fear Failure
- Help them find and focus on solutions and efforts over abilities to show them that progress is more important than outcomes.
- Demonstrate unconditional love by telling them you love them even when they use poor judgment.
- Recognize how you respond to failure. Let them see you pick yourself up and try again when you fail or make mistakes. Talk about what you learned!
- Talk about success and failure. Remind them that what they will often see on the outside of successful people (maybe reference an author they love) is not all the discipline, effort, and rejection that went into it.
The next time your child makes a mistake, talk about it openly and turn it into a learning experience!
